About: Media Access
Learn effective and innovative ways to promote your nonprofit
events and initiatives!
Media
Access Seminars, typically held twice a year, are FREE workshops
specifically designed to provide members of the nonprofit community with information
and access to various area media outlets. At these seminars, representatives
from hundreds of North Texas-area
nonprofit groups learn how to:
Create and issue effective press releases
Promote their nonprofit events and services
Position their nonprofit as a news resource
Identify ways to pitch creative news angles
Each seminar features a panel of
journalists from Belo-Dallas media companies including The Dallas Morning News,
WFAA-TV, Quick, Neighbors and Al Dia. The panelists offer helpful tips on how
to pitch stories effectively, and personally answer questions from attendees
during an informative Q&A session.
Each attendee also receives a packet of helpful reference materials, including
current media contacts and sample press releases. Media Access is open only
to nonprofit representatives. To learn more about our upcoming
seminars, please e-mail us at: mediaaccess@dallasnews.com or
contact: Tracey New, community services director, WFAA-TV/The
Dallas Morning News/Family First, at 214-977-6245
or tnew@wfaa.com.
